ABOUT - Meet Ed

After relocating to the Isle of Man in 2019, Ed found himself drawn back to the thing that had inspired him from the very beginning — sharing the joy of drumming with others.

 

This passion led to the creation of Drum Base in 2022, with the aim of helping more people discover the creativity, confidence, and enjoyment that music can bring.

 

Ed’s journey with drums began at the age of 9, when he sneaked into his brother’s band practice, picked up a pair of sticks, and sat behind a drum kit for the very first time.

 

From that moment, he was hooked. He immersed himself in learning the instrument — taking lessons, playing along to the radio, CDs, and his parents’ record collection, and forming bands with anyone willing to join him.

By the age of 14, Ed was already performing in local clubs and pubs, as well as organising his own events. Over time, this grew into opportunities to play with original bands at venues and festivals across the UK and Europe, alongside developing his experience in both live and studio session work.

 

At 20, Ed took time away from full-time drumming to study Sound Technology at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, founded by Paul McCartney.

 

Following his studies, Ed worked in wide range of roles within the world of sound and audio, working across live performances, events, festivals, television, and post-production, while continuing to perform as a drummer with artists and projects across Europe.

 

In 2015, Ed completed a Master’s degree in Business before moving into a career in management consultancy.
