ABOUT
Ed's journey with drums began at the age of 9, when he snuck into his brother's band practice, picked up a pair of sticks and sat behind a drum kit for the first time. From that moment, he immersed himself in mastering the instrument; taking lessons; playing along to the radio, CDs and his parent's records; and forming bands with anyone willing to join him.

By 14, Ed was performing in small clubs and pubs or putting on his own events, eventually transitioning to playing with original bands at venues and festivals across the UK and Europe. He also delved into session work, both live and in the studio.

At 20, Ed took a hiatus from full-time drumming to pursue a degree in Sound Technology at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, earning his undergraduate degree in 2007.

Following graduation, Ed ventured into various realms of sound and audio, spanning live gigs, events, festivals, television, and post-production, all while maintaining an active drumming schedule across Europe with different artists and projects.
In 2015, Ed embarked on a new academic pursuit, earning his Masters in Business. Two years later, he transitioned from a career in broadcast technology to management consultancy.
In 2019, Ed relocated to the Isle of Man. Despite his full-time commitments, he felt compelled to share his passion for drums which led him to establish Drum Base in 2022, dedicated to spreading the joy of drumming and the values of education and mentorship to a broader audience.
